Stella Morefield

Stella Denny Morefield, age 84, of 919 Medical Park Drive, passed away February 19, 2024. She was born April 8, 1939 to the late Eli and Lealer Denny. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bart Morefield; son, Jack Morefield; daughter, Cindy Taylor; grandchildren, Joseph Bart Morefield, Sheena Michelle Morefield; brothers, Jim, LD, Dub, Robert, Wayne and Delmer Denny; sisters, Della Bogus and Ellie Taylor.

Despite her rough childhood, Stella was one of the most loving, kind and caring people you would ever meet. She adored her family and loved God. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mountain City. 

Survivors include her son, Mike Morefield (Beulah) of Granite Falls, NC; daughter-in-law, Jean Morefield of Mountain City; son-in-law, Jim Taylor of Mountain City; brother, Cliff Denny of North Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Jimmy Ray Taylor (Savannah), Billy Morefield (Diana), Michael Taylor (Misty), Michael Clay Morefield, David Taylor, Deirdre Morefield; great grandchildren, Natalyi Taylor, Emily Taylor, Daniel Taylor, Joseph Morefield (Tonya), Makayla Moody, Sophia Moody, Weston Ferguson, Sadie Ferguson, Kynlee Gentry; great great grandson, Jackson Morefield; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The graveside service and burial will follow at Phillippi Cemetery with Pastor Steven Spencer officiating. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Taylor, Billy Morefield, Michael Taylor, David Taylor, Joseph Morefield, and Jim Taylor.
