Sarah Mahala

Sarah K. Mahala, age 84, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on July 21, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was born in Bristol, TN on April 22, 1939 to the late Herman Rosenbaum and Hattie Simerly Rosenbaum. In addition to her parents Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Mahala; sisters, Lillie Mae Mains and Mary Jane Sawyer; brothers, Bruse Rosenbaum, H.D. Rosenbaum, and John Rosenbaum (Mary Ann); daughter-in-law, Donna Mahala; special friend, Bill Taylor.

Sarah was a homemaker and will be truly missed. She was a member Baptist Home Church.

Sarah is survived by her three sons, Jack Mahala, Jeff Mahala (Rita), and Joseph “Joey” Mahala; grandchildren, Cody Mahala, Samantha Reece (Skylar) of Italy, and Ryan Mahala (Hannah) of Trade, TN; great-grandchildren, Loxley and Everest of Italy, and Emma and Crew of Trade, TN; brother, Herbert Rosenbaum; several, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Baptist Home Church. The funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor David Benfield to officiate. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral from the Price Cemetery (Rock Creek Rd. in Creston, NC).

At other times friends and family may call at the home.

The family would like to thank the Johnston Memorial Hospital CCU for the wonderful care that she received during her stay.
