Rudolph Stanley Kollar (94) of Mountain City, TN, passed away on March 16, 2024, at home with his daughter and son-in-law.

Rudolph, fondly known as Rudy by friends and family, was born to Frank and Kollar on April 22, 1929, in Mocanaqua, Pennsylvania. Rudy left school early to help his family at home after his father was injured on the job. He later joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after fighting in the Korean War. After marrying Jeanne (Zubres) of Glen Lyon, PA, they settled in Newark, Delaware. Rudy worked a variety of jobs, before taking supervisory roles with Amoco and BP refineries in Delaware and Wyoming. Born with the greenest of thumbs, Rudy was a horticulturist, managing a large garden, and growing, grafting and selling trees. Upon retirement from BP, he moved back to PA. His final two years were spent living in Mountain City with his oldest daughter, Cheryl, who served as his caretaker. 

Rudy is survived by his three children, Cheryl Smith (husband Scott), Rudiann Coleman, and David Kollar, along with grandchildren Charles, Ryan and Joshua (Smith), Stephanie and Valerie (Coleman), and great grandchildren Ambrie, Jeanne and Revel. Rudy was predeceased by his parents, wife Jeanne, and siblings Florence (Sheridan), Claire (Herman), Frank, and Augustine.

Funeral arrangements have been handled by Mountain City Funeral Home. After a funeral mass at St. Anthony of Padua on Wednesday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m., Rudy will be buried in PA with family members.

The funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Mountain City, TN with Father Jesus Guerrero. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. The graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery in Mocanaqua, PA.

Rudy was a lover of animals, so in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either: Rescue DOG and End-of-Life Sanctuary, 977 Harbin Hill Road, Mountain City, TN 37683 or the Humane Society.

The family of Rudolph Kollar has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
