Robert Carr Collie, 77, of Creston, NC, joined his Lord and best friend Jesus, on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in an accident at home. He was born on September 28, 1940 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Julian Carr and Lillian Scruggs Collie. Robert, known to everyone as “Robbie,” was a devoted Christian and co-founder with his wife of Freedom Farm Ministries of Watauga and Ashe counties, which ministers to men in need of help with addiction. Robbie devoted his life to his faith, his family and tirelessly helping anyone in need. He was also active in helping the less fortunate in Nicaragua and Africa. He never met a stranger. Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Rita Baab Collie; their children, Robert Collie, Jr, of Creston, NC; John Collie (Lisa) of Greenville, NC; Clay Collie (Candace) of Boone, NC; George Vogt (Barbara) of Elizabeth City, NC; faithful friend William Walker of Creston, NC; five grandchildren, Wesley Collie, Jackson Collie, Julian Collie, Chris Vogt (Rachel), and Chelsea Seinar; two great grandchildren, Grove Vogt and Copeland Seinar. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Julia Anne Weaver. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 1-3:30 p.m. at The Rock, 215 Boone Heights Drive, Suite 301, Boone, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the Alliance Bible Fellowship, 1035 NC Highway 105 Bypass, Boone NC.
