Nora Mae Swift

 

Nora Mae Swift, age 88, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at home in Sherman, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving family. Nora Mae was born in Mountain City, Tennessee on January 18, 1936.

 

 She was a member of Central Christian Church of Sherman, Texas and Dewey Christian Church of Mountain City, Tennessee. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and serving her Church community. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, walking the dog (Trixie), reading, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her faith in God, ever-present smile, and kindness to everyone she met. 

 

She is survived by her daughter Debbie Swift Flanders (husband John Flanders) and son Greg Swift (wife Shelia Swift), grandchildren Allen Flanders, Emily Flanders, Melissa Flanders (husband Oscar Zevallos), Adam Swift (wife Kendall Swift), Josh Swift, her brothers, Jim Jennings (wife Kathy Jennings), Tony Jennings (wife Rita Jennings), Butch Jennings, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Ray Swift, parents Clyde and Mae (Cornett) Jennings, and her siblings Howard Jennings, Oscar Jennings, Verlene Martin, Dewey Jennings, Geter Jennings, Ben Jennings, Barney Jennings, Ralph Jennings, Sonny Jennings, Perry Jennings, and Evelyn Farmer. 

 

The public visitation will begin at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm with Travis Long officiating. The interment will be at Wilson Cemetery, 258 Swift Hollow Road, immediately after the service. The pallbearers will be Mike Farmer, Tripp Farmer, Lindsey Jennings, Ray Jennings, Sonny Jennings, and Shane Reece. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Jennings, Tony Jennings, Butch Jennings, Allen Flanders, Adam Swift, Josh Swift, and Oscar Zevallos. The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Woods and Home Hospice of Grayson County, Texas for the care given in her final days.
