Michael Moulder

Michael A. Moulder, age 75 of Lansing North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Atrium Health Baptist Medical Center, surrounded by is wife and daughter. His children and grandchildren, family and friends, in person and by phone lovingly ministered to him, visited and prayed with him shortly before his passing. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred V. Moulder and stepmother, Pauline Marshall Moulder, his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Brown Moulder Kelly and stepfather, Charlie Kelly, stepbrother George Grason, Uncle Johnny and Aunt Lorraine Moulder. 

Mike was born in West Chester Pennsylvania on March 20, 1949 to the late Alfred V. Moulder and Elizabeth Brown Moulder. He attended the Blythedale SDA Elementary School and Jr. Academy in Rising Sun, MD. He also attended Shenandoah Valley Academy, Class of ’67, where he played trumpet in the band. He continued his interest in music and attended Columbia Union College (Washington Adventist University) in Takoma Park, MD playing baritone in the orchestra before going into the United States Army. Mike had fallen in love with Bernie, who also played the trumpet and they both worked for the same orchestra director during his time at CUC. 

Their summers were spent as Staff Counselors at Camp Blue Ridge where they played “Taps”, echoing each other every night from the boys camp on the hill to the girls cabins down by the lake! They were engaged before Mike went into the Army and were married on his R&R in Hawaii on September 1, 1970. 

Mike proudly served in the military, stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam, serving as a medic that would not carry a firearm. He arrived home in time to the States surprising Bernie by attending her graduation from CUC. 

After his service in the Army, Mike got his Paramedic Training in Montgomery County, MD and went on to work in the Emergency Rooms at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC and at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD. He completed 24 years at Shady Grove up to his retirement in 2018. He had worked as Medical Technician, Trauma Tech and Unit Support Coordinator. After moving to North Carolina, Mike proudly worked with the Mount Rogers Volunteer Fire & Rescue in Whitetop, VA. 

Mike enjoyed family time, their horses, boating and camping, playing music with his family and communicating as a General Class Ham Radio Operator, KA3MSR. He loved to tinker in his garage and in working with technology. Mike loved to ride his motorcycle, fly as a private airplane pilot, and was a commercial truck mechanic. Mike and Bernie were married for 54 years. Since his retirement, he did not slow down! His mission was to serve in Ministry until Jesus comes again! They both have teamed in Ministry Hosting & Facilitating Kids and Youth Bible Clubs on Zoom and hosting together Zoom Church Services and other weekly events. Pop Pop was also involved in Homeschooling their granddaughter, Emma. 

Mike Sr. is survived by his sweetheart and wife Berneva Adams Moulder and their children: Son Michael A. Moulder, Jr., wife Wendy, grandchildren M. Allen, III and Lora Jean of New Market, VA; Daughter Crystal Moulder Stamper, husband PJ Stamper, and granddaughter Emma Lynne of Mouth of Wilson, VA; Son Russell V. Moulder, wife Vanessa and grandchildren Caleb, Dawson and Dakota of Nathalie, VA; Sister Clarice Loerop of Michigan, twin stepbrothers, Bruce and Brian Kelly, beloved Aunt Dottie Herrman of Pennsylvania, cousins, nieces and nephews and his loving and loyal “puppy” of 7 years—Spencer. 

Memorial Services: December 28, 2024 at 4 PM Konnarock Seventh-Day Adventist Church 590 Konnarock RD, Damascus, VA 24236 Visitation with the family will be at 3:30 PM and the Services will follow at 4 PM. A Fellowship Supper will be provided by the Church Family and Everyone is Invited. There will be no graveside service.
