Lois Farley

Shirley ‘Lois’  Farley, age 58, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Watauga Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on July 13, 1960 to Nell Slemp May and the late Ted May.  In addition to her father, Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Richard Farley, who passed away on January 16, 2017.  Lois was an employee of Johnson County High School where she worked as a Supervisor in the cafeteria.  She loved her job and loved the children even more.  She has had a positive impact and touched the lives of so many school children through the years.  Lois had an infectious smile and was always kind, caring, and loving. She never complained and was always grateful.  She was a lifelong member of Locust Gap Baptist Church.  Lois loved sharing her faith, along with her husband Richard, with others.      Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Leah Cornett and husband Chris and Lee Farley and friend Megan Pardue; mother, Nell May; grandchildren, Cristen Cornett and Braden Cornett; sisters, Naomi Ward and husband Russell and Joyce Harrelson and husband Mac; brothers, Bill May and Rick May and wife Terri Lynn May; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Delores and Arlen Farley; several nieces and nephews; her work family at JCHS and the county school system and her church family.  The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Locust Gap Baptist Church with Pastor Shannon Courtner officiating.  Graveside service and interment will follow at the May Family Cemetery, located behind her home on Slimp Branch Road.  Pallbearers will be Shannon Farley, Jim Farley, Jerry Conway, Warren May, Rick May and Chris Cornett.
