Julie Stanley

Julie Kate Stanley, age 81, loving wife of 62 years to Joseph (J.E.) Stanley, wonderful mother of three sons, Jim, Joe (Tori), and Tom (Lea) and daughter, Julie, and best friend to Virginia Ruthie Hall all of Mountain City, went to be with Jesus after a long courageous battle with cancer. Her final days were spent peacefully at home surrounded by caring family and close friends. She was a member of the Creston (NC) Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ila Reece Norris and Joe Norris; several brothers and sisters and one honorary son-in-law, Brittian South.

Known for her magnetic personality and winning smile, Julie will be missed by all who knew her. Julie’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others with her light and not the sadness of her passing. Julie loved the outdoors, fishing, building, creating, recycling, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Also left to cherish Julie’s memory are her sisters, Carrie Pennington, Louise Morefield (Harold), Betty Stanley; brother, Tommy Jack Norris; grandchildren, Joshua Stanley, Casey Stanley, Tyler Stanley, Elizabeth Philyaw (Ryan), Hailey Stanley, Daniel Reece, Derek Roberts, Dillon Roberts, Katelyn Vincent (Logan), Jason Stanley, Grant Stanley, Andrew Forrester, Gus Stanley; several very special great grandchildren, and lots of very special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. The graveside service and burial will follow at Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
