On November 29, 2023, Shirley Juanita Raines, née Fanning, passed away in Bristol, Tennessee from natural causes.

Born in Greenville, Tennessee on May 26, 1937, Juanita grew up in Greenville the youngest of 5 siblings. She went on to marry the late John Stephen "Jack" Lashlee and together they had two sons, Jon David Lashlee and Gregory Eric Lashlee. Juanita spent her career teaching and serving as an elementary school Principal in the public school system, primarily in Abingdon, Virginia. She later divorced and married the late B.G. "Bob" Raines, a Professor of Mathematics at Emory & Henry College, with whom she enjoyed travelling, horseback riding, entertaining, and spending time with their friends, colleagues, children, and grandchildren. Juanita was a talented weaver, gracious hostess, dedicated educator, and a beloved grandmother. Juanita will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Mabel Cary, her son, David Lashlee, and former daughter-in-law Amy Lashlee, as well as her step-sons Neil Raines and Andy Raines, and daughters-in-law Alison Raines and Amy Raines. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Megan Buck, Emily Lashlee, Jacob Lashlee, Rachel Raines, Olivia Raines, and Mark Raines and her great-grandchildren Ethan Buck and Thomas Buck.
