John Shaffer

John Thomas Shaffer, age 72 of Shady Valley, TN, went home to be with the Lord on December, 13, 2023. John was born December, 20, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Charles Shaffer and Mary (Maguire) Shaffer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Shaffer and sister, MaryAnn (Shaffer) Paulson.

John was a proud Ironworker of Local 401 in Philadelphia, PA.  He was a devout Catholic. John loved the great outdoors (hunting, fishing, boating & turkey shoots).  He enjoyed playing cards with his buddies and listening to Oldies music.  John was full of character and loved telling jokes.  He lit up every room he walked in and his laugh was infectious. John never met a stranger and he absolutely adored his family and friends. 

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 42 years. Darlene (McKinney) Shaffer; children, Lisa Brody (Wayne), Cathleen Borrelli, John Shaffer Jr.(Natasha), Amanda Stanley (Jonathan); grandchildren, Chase Brody, Charlotte Brody, Asher Brody, Carmen Borrelli, Hunter Stanley, McKinna Stanley.

Mass will be held from 11:00 a.m-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at St. Jude's Catholic Church. Reception will follow at North East VFW.
