James Elliott Jackson

James Elliott Jackson, age 92 of Mountain City, passed away August 4, 2024 at Mountain Home Nursing Facility. James was born May 2, 1932 in Fayetteville, NC to the late Stonewall Jackson and Irene Ellis Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Agnes Whipperman Jackson, sister, Ethel Evans and brother-in-law, Jay Evans.

 

James was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War and was a purple-heart recipient. He enjoyed being outdoors in nature with wildlife and fishing. James had an amazing work ethic, serving as a fireman with the city of Baltimore, as a postal worker after his military service, was a factory manager and retired from being a truck driver.

 

Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Julie Kennell and James E. Jackson, Jr.; brother, Bobby Jackson, grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica and their children, many nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow from the Rainbow Cemetery with Rev. Frank Woods officiating, Military honors to be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
