Glenn Arney

 

Glenn Arney, age 84, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023. Glenn was born October 30, 1939 to the late Richard Kermit Arney and Una Grace Dugger Arney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darren Arney; brother, Wayne Arney; sisters, Mary Jeter, Ruth Robbins; and Larry Eggers, who he loved like a son.

 

Glenn was a hard working husband and father who loved his family. He was an avid farmer and adored his donkey, Jack and his dogs, Snoopy and Snorkle. Glenn served as a county commissioner for 20 years, was a member of the Eastern Star and was a 32nd degree Mason of the Roan Creek Lodge #679. He was a faithful member of Bakers Gap Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved his church family and was very proud of them.

 

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 60 years, Elena Arney; daughter, Becky Riddle “Sissy” and husband Jimmy; sons, Doug Arney (Tammy), Dan Arney; grandchildren, Matt Eggers and wife Sky, Lori Faircloth “Bear” and late husband Lester, Jessica Arney “Special” (Shawn McElyea), Jordan Arney and wife Morgan; great grandchildren, Shawn Swank, Dade Eggers, Darren Eggers, Lexie Faircloth, Leanna Faircloth, John Lee McElyea; sisters, Belle Cable (Ellis) and Martha Dugger; sisters-in-laws, Ida Lee Arney, JoAnn Cable; special friends, Jenny Arney, who he loved as a daughter, Randy and Faye Davis, and Charlotte Dugger; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at Bakers Gap Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Arney, Doug Arney, Jordan Arney, Dade Eggers, Matt Eggers, Jimmy Riddle, Timmy Stanton, Darren Eggers, and Shawn Swank. Honorary pallbearers are family and friends.

 

At other times, friends and family may visit the home, 6718 Big Dry Run Rd., Butler, TN 37640.

 

The family would like to thank Dillon McQueen and Johnson County EMS, all the first responders and doctors who cared for Glenn, and good friend, Marvin Arney.

 

The family of Glenn Arney has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
