Glenda McCulloch

Glenda McCulloch, age 55, passed away after a long and courageous fight on Tuesday March 12, 2024, at MUSC. Her family was with her when she was called into heaven.

Glenda was born on April 30, 1968, in Banner Elk, NC to the late Clifton and Geneva Worley.

How do we sum up a life well lived in a few words. Glenda’s greatest achievement and biggest source of pride was her family. They meant the world to her.  She was a wonderful person, always put others in front of herself and was always willing to help. She was also the toughest person you have ever seen, she never complained. Glenda was very adventurous, the first to jump in and had a need for speed-especially with her favorite maroon Z28 Camaro. She loved spending time doing activities with her family.  Pontoon boating the waterway and on the lakes of Eastern, Tenn especially tubing on Wataga lake. Going to the beach and suntanning, camping at ocean lakes, four wheeling, weekend bike trips in Tenn. and local events especially, mustang week, food trucks and all the bike weeks.

Among some of her most memorable trips include the Christmas holiday trip in Orlando to Grand Prix in Nashville. She explored the Churchill Downs at the infamous Kentucky Derby and frequented NASCAR races in Darlington, SC. Glenda loved to help her kids explore their passions like Lizzie’s pageant years and Wesley’s various sports and car adventures. In her younger years, you could find her and Jim running up and down the mountain, to Gatlinburg, even down to Myrtle Beach on their motorcycle with all their friends.

She and Jim worked together every day and built their first heating and cooling company, J & G heating and cooling. They are the current owner of Coastal Temperature Control heating and cooling. She was one of the best pipefitters Jim had ever seen. She loved to cook and everything she cooked was delicious. One of her specialties was slow roasted pot roast, it was almost world famous. She Jim and the kids are members of First Baptist Church of Surfside including being a member of ‘The Way’ Sunday school class. Her class has always been a huge inspiration and provided continuous spiritual support.

Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’  ‘Yes, Lord,’ She replied, ‘I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.’” John 11:25-27 NIV

Glenda is survived by husband and soulmate Jim, of 36 years; daughter Elizabeth McCulloch, Son Wes and his fiancé Jacynda all of Surfside Beach; siblings Lisa Cable, Sherry Moose, Clifton Worley and Sandy Worley; brother- in- law Robbie and his wife Kathy, sisters- in-law Christy Mann and Susie Yoggerst; numerous nieces and nephews; her loyal companion, her dog Precious whom seems lost without her.
