Gary Henson

Gary R. Henson, age 74, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born January 1, 1951 in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late R.D. Henson and Texie Forrester Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Price Henson; sisters, Nancy McGlamery and Sue Hensley and brothers-in-law, Freddie Snyder and Cecil McGlamery.

Gary was a 1969 graduate of Johnson County High School. He was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973. He was also a member of Valley View United Methodist Church and a true Tennessee Volunteers fan. He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing, working in the yard, and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memories include his sisters, Brenda Snyder, Jo Henson; brother, Larry Henson (Susie); step-son, Josh Price (Michelle); grandchildren, Olivia Dixon, Helen Dixon, Eden Dixon; brother-in-law, Jim Hensley; sister-in-law, Wanda Greer (Jerry); special great nephew, Ryan Smith; furry companion, Paisley; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and aunts.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from the Wilson Cemetery with Randy Hensley officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Danny Hensley, Tim Hensley, Randy Hensley, David McGlamery, Joe Snyder, William Hensley, Grayson Hensley, Chris Patton, and Max McGlamery. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Hensley, Jerry Greer, Josh Price, David Palanzi, and the Men’s Sunday School Class of Valley View United Methodist Church. For those who wish to travel with the family in the funeral procession, please meet at the funeral home at 2:45.
