Ethel Tester

Verna Ethel Parsons Davidson Tester, age 90, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Saturday morning, December 11, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on February 18, 1931 in Mountain City, TN to the late Bill Kirby Parsons and Purdie Ellen Phillips Parsons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Davidson and Raymond Bo Tester, sisters Pauline Parsons and Evalee Parsons, and brother, Baxter Fred Parsons. Ethel was born and lived during the Great Depression. While her parents sharecropped so began the lifetime of caregiving by taking care of her siblings while her parents worked. She knew the hardships in life and making do with what you had. She was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She cared for many of her family members over the years, not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy. She was full of spirit and was the first to tell you what she thought, no matter if it stepped on your feelings, so she was truthful to a fault. She loved to share her memories of growing up and who was related to whom. At the age of 90, she was an independent woman who lived alone, taking care of her daily needs and her home. She loved to crochet, loved Facebook and her tablet. Those left to cherish her memories include her sisters, Delcie Parks and Leona Roark; her children, Purdie Mae (Bruce) Price, Danny (Karleen) Davidson, and Mary Ellen Tester; grandchildren, Danel (John) Louman, Nanci (Michael) Campbell, Brian (Misty) Davidson, and RJ (Kelsie) Mink; great-grandchildren, Michael Staiger, Andy Staiger, Sky (Rob) Gionfriddo, Isaac Campbell, Brock, Brody, and Branson Davidson, and Kynslie Mink; great-great-grandchildren, Paige, Addie, and Kinsley Staiger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her faithful friend, Peachy. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral service from Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Campbell, Isaac Campbell, RJ Mink, Brian Davidson, Brock Davidson, John Louman, Ryan Miller, and Adam Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Price, Danny Davidson, Danny Miller, Michael Staiger, Andy Staiger and Rob Gionfriddo. The family would like to thank her physician, Kim Kleine, the staff of Amedysis Home Health Services, and Pam Brown. There will be no calling hours at the home.
