Ernest Pennington

Ernest J. Pennington, age 83, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by family.  He was born on March 14, 1935 to the late Emmett and Callie King Pennington.  In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Ann Porter Pennington; son, Jerry Pennington; brothers; Butler Pennington, Bill Pennington, Ray Pennington, Herbert Pennington and Jay Pennington.

Ernest was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He farmed all of his life and enjoyed working with cattle and in tobacco.  He loved being outside and also enjoyed hunting. 

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Peggy Palmore and husband Tom, Shane Pennington and wife Pamela, Ernie Pennington and Gary Pennington; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Bentley officiating.  Graveside service and interment will follow at the Shouns-McEwen Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lowe, Eric Lowe, Jerry Roark, Sonny Osborne, Justin Roark, Daniel McEwen.  Honorary pallbearers are Mike Roark, Aaron Roark, Chris Pennington, Michael Pennington, Alan Pennington, Matthew Mowry and Jeffrey Lewis.
