Edwin Greene

Edwin Don Greene, age 83, passed away April 3, 2025 at his home. He was born September 15, 1941 in Boone, NC to the late Lee Vaughn Greene and Opal Eggers Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary “Blanda” Greene and grandson, Adam Greer

Edwin retired from the North Carolina Forestry Service after 46 years and was an active member of Trade Volunteer Fire Department and Trade Community Center. He was also a former member of Cove Creek Volunteer Fire Department and the former fire chief of Beaver Dam Volunteer Fire Department. He also attended Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Edwin with his fire services has touched a lot of lives and he was always ready to help anyone.

Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Tammy Greene of Mtn. City; son, Ritchie Greene and wife Carol of Mtn. City; brothers, Gale Greene of Zionville, Junior Greene and wife Audrey of Vilas, Gerald Greene and wife Karren of Vilas; sister in law, Glenna Everett and husband Forrest; grandchildren, Sandy Greene, Summer Greer and fiancé Josh Wampler, Heather Gillam, Ritchie “Vaughn” Greene, Jeff Wilcox; great grandchildren, Emily Eggers, Carson Eggers, Amberlynn Reece, Shelby Reece, Troy Reece, Quinn Reece, Sammy Gillam, Phillip Gillam; step grandchildren, Derrick Arnold, Justin Arnold; great great grandchildren, Westin Hodges, Izaias Reece; special friend, Len Dollar; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with Pastors Keith Brown, Michael Greene and Ethan Greene officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Robinson Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Greene, Wendel Greene, Byron Greene, Garrett Adams, Mike Everett, and Aaron Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Beaver Dam Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robinson Family Cemetery, c/o Tina Trivette, 5660 Beaver Dam Road, Vilas, NC 28692.

At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 4331 Beaver Dam Road, Vilas, NC 28692.
