Donald Thomas

Donald David Thomas, 88 of Laurel Bloomery, TN, was called home to the Lord’s house on March 2, 2025.

Don was a member of Bethel Community Church. On June 23, 2023 he had a creekside baptism, publicly showing his belief.

He spent his life enjoying farm life. His tractor wasn’t always used working the fields. He loved gathering his nieces and nephews for a hayride. In his spare time, he showed his talent of wood-crafting. He would make wooden flowers, birds, and furniture. His pride and joy were the replicas of building in the town of Laurel Bloomery. He looked forward to his trips to the ocean to do some fishing.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and French Thomas; brothers, Dan and Bill Thomas and brother-in-law, Dean Thomas. Those left to cherish his memories include his brother, Terry Thomas and wife Ruth; sisters, Ann Thomas and Carolyn Blair and husband Marvin; two special nephews, Billy and Bobby who spent time as his caregivers; several nieces and nephews, along with their children, leaving them filled with memories of farm life.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Tom Prater and Daniel Jones officiating. Music will be provided by Blair Gavilano. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Acre Field Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jamie Thomas, Sam Thomas, Jeff Rupard, Eric Taylor, Fred Kimberlin, and Richard Mink. Randy Crowder, George Gavilano, Mike Karriker and the men of Bethel Community Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Community Church.
