Daniel Hammons

Daniel Clyde Hammons, age 88, passed away October 10, 2023 at Mountain City Care Center. He was born August 4, 1935 in Mountain City, TN to the late John and Bessie Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ester Hammons; sisters, Nettie Pope, Emmie Woodard and brother, Bruce Hammons.

Daniel really enjoyed the outdoors and liked working in his flowers, mowing the yard, and building birdhouses. He loved all animals and enjoyed coloring. He loved everyone and especially liked spending time with his grandkids. He loved God and attended many churches in Mountain City over the years.

Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Barbara Hammons; sons, Billy Hammons (Sheila), Danny Hammons (Linda Brown); grandchildren, Judd Hammons, Cecilia Winters, Jaylia Collins, Steven Perry, Barbie Perry, Devin Dillard, Brian Hammons; great grandchildren, Natilee and Grayson Collins, Jakiah Augustine, Zaken Augustine; special friends, Sue Johnson, Burl Stout, Carolyn Baker, Rex Johnson; several nieces nephews and other friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Steven Spencer officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Rainbow Cemetery.
