Conley ‘Bud’ Roosevelt Taylor, age 80, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at his residence. He was born on May 5, 1938 to the late Clyde and Dona Owens Taylor. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by best friend and brother, Marion Taylor; brothers, Estes Taylor, Sidney Taylor, Johnny Taylor, and grandson, Josh Dollar.
Bud worked at Timberland Shoe Company and A.J. Stalcup Lumber Company for many years. He retired from Mountain City Lumber.
Bud had never met a stranger, was always happy and in a good mood and always smiling. He was a hard worker and a simple man who lived a simple life. He loved children and not counting his own, he took many children into his home and raised them with the same kind of love.
Bud loved his grandchildren very much. They were his pride and joy.
He was a member of Ackerson Creek Christian Church and attended Corinth Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 40 years, Gloria Taylor; children, Lance Taylor and wife Joanna, Darlene Orndorff and husband Charlie, Michelle Salyer and husband Dennis, Scott Orndorff, Preston Orndorff and Eddie ‘Bo’ Taylor; sister, Faye Sheets of Hickory, NC; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Billy Morefield and Tim Furchess officiating. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Taylor Family Cemetery (Fox Hollow Road). Pallbearers will be Chris Arnold, Tandy Williams, Joseph Orndorff, Jesse Grindstaff, Brian Shelton, Ricky Ray Shelton, Travis Grindstaff and Jeremiah Burns. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Furchess, Alfred Henley, Rick Grindstaff, Robbie Morefield and Dallas Furchess.
At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 1638 Redbrush Road, Mountain City, TN or Village Apt #47, Mountain City, TN.
