Charles "Cotton" Wood

Charles E. Wood “Cotton”, age 85, of Street, Maryland passed away on November 8, 2022 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Born in Creston, North Carolina. He was the son of Henry and Ida (Riley) Wood and husband of 56 years to the late Sarah (Jones) Wood. He had 10 siblings. Charles was a truck driver who always took pride in how his workplace and his truck looked. He was a very hard worker who loved to work with his hands. He loved gardening, working on his house and working concrete projects. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed. He loved the Lord and family and was very committed to them. Charles is survived by his daughters, Ruth and her husband Blair Mallonee Sr. and Jean and her husband Carl Younce; grandchildren, Heather and her husband Marty Simon, Blair Mallonee, Jr., David and his wife Kayla Meads, Jr. and Cory Younce; great-grandchildren Dillon Simon, and Morgan Simon. Charles is also survived by his sister Elise Barr of West Jefferson, NC, and brothers’ James Wood of Shady Valley, TN. and Frank Wood of Mountain City, TN. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 at McComas Family Funeral Home in Bel Air, Maryland. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022 at Gospel Baptist Tabernacle in Jarrettsville, MD. Intmerment will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bel Air, MD. Contributions may be made in Charles’ name to Gospel Baptist Tabernacle Church, 3025 Sharon Road, Jarrettsville, MD 21084.
