Billy Reece

Billy Walter Reece, age 77 of Trade, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2024. Billy was born October 24, 1946 to the late Martin Luther Reece and Wilma Heaton Reece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Michael Price; brothers, Eugene Reece, Tommie Reece, Johnny Reece and 2 infant brothers, Jerry and Freddy. 

Billy served in the United States Army from 1964-1972. During his 8 years of service he served 2 tours in Vietnam and was honored with 2 Bronze Star awards. After returning home from his service, he was employed at Harris Teeter for 30 years. Billy also served as a minister at Damascus Church of Christ and Ackerson Creek Church of Christ. He was a member of Dewey Christian Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of almost 60 years, Glenda Sue Thomas Reece; sons, Chris Reece and wife Bonnie, Roger Reece and wife Linda; daughter, Melinda Reece; brother, Gary Reece and wife Roseletta; sister, Margaret Wallace and husband Larry; granddaughter, Holli Osborne; great grandson, Waylon Osborne; special friend, Natasha English; sisters-in-law, Linda Reece, Donna Dickens and husband Tom, Mary Smith and husband Ted, Dorothy Smith, Carolyn Reece; several nieces and nephews and his special furry friends, Velma, Sal and Dumplin. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Dewey Christian Church. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with Minister Bud Gentry officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. The family kindly asks in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The American Diabetes Association (P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116) or the Alzheimer’s Association (2200 Sutherland Ave., Suite H102, Knoxville, TN 37919).
