Billie Ray Hodge

Billie Ray Hodge, age 86, passed away on September 5, 2023 at his home. Bill was born on August 23, 1937 in Watauga County, NC to the late Rinda Clara Hodge. In addition to his mother, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Junior Hodge.

If you knew Bill, you would know he could be found working on lawnmowers, weed eaters or any small engines. He worked as a farmer throughout his life and had worked for Bart Sutherland back in the day, in the greenhouses. Bill enjoyed working and growing flowers and vegetables.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ruth Bennett Hodge; daughter, Julie Hannah (Jimmy); son, Jason Hodge; grandchildren, Brandon Hannah, Anna Rose Hodge and Jason Hodge, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Kathy Mulvane.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. The graveside service and burial will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Mericle, Jimmy Hannah, Roy Bennett, Jeff Mulvane and Estel Mulvane. Honorary pallbearer is Marvin Hodge.
