Bill Walters

Bill Walters, age 83, passed away on July 30, 2022 at his home. Bill was born on September 15, 1938 in Floral Park, NY to the late Andrew and Lillian Walters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bill Walters Jr., sister, Joan Holt, and grandson, Matthew Thompson. Bill always made an impact on the lives of everyone he met. He invested himself in others and always managed to see the good in people. He had never met a stranger and could talk to anyone, which he used in his professions as a teacher and chaplain at the jail. He loved the Lord and loved sharing his faith. He loved his family and was very proud of them. He enjoyed family and friend get-togethers and poker nights with the guys and Diamond Deb. He was always appreciative and thankful for his wife, Geri. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Geri Walters; daughter, Deborah Thompson (Randy); sons, Roger Walters (Adreea), Roman Walters (Davina); daughter-in-law, Rita Walters; sister, Lillian D’Esposito; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his poker buddies. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Russ Poteet officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery in Mountain City. Pallbearers will be Bill’s grandchildren.
