Anna Morefield

Anna Ruth Morefield, age 89, of Little Dry Run Rd., Butler, TN passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Anna Ruth was born on July 27, 1935 on Little Dry Run to the late O.H. (Hill) Blackburn and Pearlie (Pearl) Wagner Blackburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven sisters and brothers, Chloe Jewett, Fred Blackburn, Paul Blackburn, Marie Dugger, Mary (Odell) Depew, Stuart Blackburn and Elmer Blackburn; her son-in-law, Don Hazelwood.

Anna Ruth was a homemaker, enjoying cooking, canning, gardening, flowers along with other farming work. She was known by her family as Granny and will truly be missed by all of them and all who knew her. Anna Ruth loved singing, and from about 1983 until 1998 the family sang together known as Heavenly Bound. She was active in her church, Midway Baptist Church on Little Dry Run Rd; and was baptized in 1981.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 71 years, Samuel Earl Morefield; daughters, Diana Hazelwood, Betty Wolfe and husband Eddie, Linda K. Morefield; son, Chuck Morefield and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Jason Wolfe, Jennifer Lefler and Tyler Morefield; great grandchildren, Luke Wolfe, Katie Haulsey, Kelsie Kirk, Jett, Colt, and Bodee Morefield; special niece, Judy Caldwell; special nephew, Buster Jewett, along with several additional nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church, funeral service follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg Thompson officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow the funeral from the Samuel E. Morefield & Family Cemetery at the home place. Pallbearers will be Doyle Tester, Tyler Morefield, Dusty Lefler, Tyler Thompson, Wesley Ward and James Ward Honorary pallbearers are Marshall Estep, Jason Wolfe and her Church family at Midway.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Brianna and Tyler Morefield and Crystal Blevins, Dr. Megan Long and Dr. Christian Robinette and staff of State of Franklin Medical Group, Amedysis Home Health and Hospice.
