Charles Eugene Lipford Charles Eugene "Butch" Lipford, age 56, of Hickory, NC, formerly of Mountain City, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, NC. Butch was born on December 18, 1953 in Banner Elk, NC to the late Venia Pierce Clawson. He was a jovial person who loved to make people happy. He tried to put a smile on everyone he met. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dixie Lipford Tester. Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Osborne of Mountain City; son, Charles Lipford, Jr. of Lenoir, NC; stepfather, Joe Clawson of Mountain City; sisters, Glenda Parsons of Oxford, PA and Donna Yelton and husband Robert of Hickory, NC; brothers, Glenn Lipford, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Mountain City, Richard Lipford and wife Donna and Tom Lipford and wife Jeanne, both of Conover, NC and Jody Clawson of Oak Ridge, TN; grandchildren, Joseph Osborne and Christina Osborne, aunt, Leona Warren and husband Jack of Mountain City, uncle, B.J. Davis and wife Lucy of Richmond,VA., and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2010 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Phipps officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Yelton, Cody Yelton, Chad Sluder, Craig Sluder, Tommy Lipford, Jr. and Maverick Lipford. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
