Bonnie Ethel Swift, age 91, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 29, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 17, 1918, the youngest daughter of the late David Hamilton and Laura Alice Swift. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her brothers: Wiley, John, Stacey and Rod Swift; a sister, Ola (Toad) Holloway and a grandson, Darrell Vines. She was a member of Dewey Christian Church. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family. Her most favorite thing was to show everyone her rose bush that always had the most beautiful blooms. Granny, as she was referred to by most, could grow any plant or flower. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Margaret Tugman and husband Bill; her son, Eugene Peanut' Swift, all of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Tracey V. Safford and husband Billy of Granite Falls, NC, David Bo' Fritts and wife Angela of Mountain City, TN and Whitney Fritts and fiancé Josh Estep of Elizabethton, TN. Granny's most prized possession were her great grandchildren: Hunter and Daryl-Hannah Vines and Jacob Harrington and Brady Fritts. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many, many loving friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 30, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. from the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Ray Slemp and Rev. Terry Steele to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 31, 2010 from the Wilson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Billy Safford, David Bo'Fritts, Josh Estep, Doug Thomas, Don Matheson and Doran Dockie' Swift. The family wishes to thank the amazing staff of Home Health for all of their love and care of Granny over the years and the awesome staff of Johnson City Medical Center. Our Granny was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. The family will also receive friends at the home, 1340 Swift Hollow Road, Mountain City.
