Mr. James Herman Patrick Jr.

Mr. James Herman Patrick Jr. Mr. James Herman Patrick Jr. age 48, of the Flatwoods Road of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Monday night June 21, 2010 at the Watauga Medical Center after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. James was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on May 14, 1962 to Herman and Mattie Rash Patrick. James helped build many homes throughout Ashe and Johnson Counties over the last 30 years. He loved being outdoors farming, hunting, wood working, camping and spending time with his family. He was the superintendent of the Laurel Springs Church. He was also a member of the Pond Mountain Fire Department, where he was elected as Firefighter of the Year in 2008. He was well loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. James is survived by his wife of 26 years, Penny Cox Patrick; one son, Jimmy Patrick, of the home; one daughter, Amy Patrick, also of the home; his father and mother, Herman and Mattie Patrick; his maternal grandmother, Vinnie Rash, all of Creston, North Carolina; one brother, Kenneth Patrick and wife Teresa of West Jefferson (the Buffalo Community), North Carolina; two sisters: Evelyn Brewer and husband Cliff, of Creston, North Carolina and Renea Payne and husband Mike of Mountain City, Tennessee; his in-laws who loved him as their own, Lloyd and Lois Cox, Ann and Danny Farmer, Jane and Ralph Oliver, all of Creston, North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home., West Jefferson, North Carolina. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 from the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Patrick-Cox Cemetery.
