Mrs. Lucille Hackedy Powell

Mrs. Lucille Hackedy Powell Mrs. Lucille Hackedy Powell, age 86, of Hickory, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the residence of her daughter in Weaverville, North Carolina. Born on February 16, 1924 in Watauga County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Donley and Floy South Hackedy. She was a member of Christ United Baptist Church and was retired from Cox Manufacturing. Mrs. Powell enjoyed traveling and reading but her life revolved around her family, her church and her friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clay Powell, a daughter, Linda Powell Pesek, a brother, Edsel Denney and two sisters: Pauline H. Eastridge and Donnie H. Monger. Mrs. Powell is survived by two daughters: Sherlene Powell Childers and husband Tony of Hickory, North Carolina; Donna Powell McCrain and husband Lewis of Weaverville, North Carolina; two sisters: Faye D. Walker and Sue D. Campbell, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; a grandson, Frank W. Pesek V of Charlotte, North Carolina; three granddaughters: Lindsay Childers, Hannah Childers, both of Hickory, North Carolina and Chesley Pesek of Morganton, North Carolina. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Christ United Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Rudisill officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Hickory, North Carolina.
