Carrie 'Granny' Marie McGlamery

Carrie Marie McGlamery Carrie Marie Granny' McGlamery, age 82, of 184 Tom Phillippi Road, Mountain City, TN. passed away on Saturday July 31, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous brief battle with cancer. She was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church. She loved her girls, her family, her flowers and enjoyed her rocking chair. She was the daughter of the late Willie B. and Anna Bess Gentry Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband W. E. (Ellis) McGlamery, a daughter, Mary McGlamery Eidson, an infant son, Wayne McGlamery and infant twin grand daughters; four step sons, Earl, Mack, Bob and Curtis McGlamery; step daughter, Ruth McGlamery Matthews, two brothers, Ray Lewis and James ( J. W.) Lewis, and a sister, Retta Fenner. She is survived by two daughters, Arlene Lewis and husband Jake and Jayne McGlamery-Pardue and husband Ronnie, all of Mountain City; two step-daughters, Ella Burton of Piney Flats, TN, Linda Sprouse and husband Ernie, Bristol, VA; step-son, Cecil McGlamery and wife Nancy of Piney Flats, TN; grandchildren, Travis and Christina Lewis, Elizabethton, TN, Matthew and Amy Lewis, Mountain City, Jessica and Jason Snow, McMinville, TN, Peter Eidson and friend Heather, Johnson City, TN, Sara Beth Eidson, Ceres, VA.; step-grandchildren, Robin and Michael Bolling, Tammy and Matt Chandler, Bob and Inez Burton, Libby and Mike Walker, Bob and Nikki McGlamery, David and Lisa McGlamery, Debbie Dunn and husband Larry and Corrine McGlamery; four great grandchildren, Asa, Isaac, Sam and Katherine; twelve step-great grandchildren; four step-great great grandchildren; one brother, Wade Lewis and wife Mary Nell, Mountain City; one half-sister, Ruth Pierce, Mountain City. Special friends include Mary Cornett, Ruth Payne, Viva Pierce, all of Mountain City, Joe Rash of Bristol TN, and special canine friends, Tipsy (Spot) and Sadie Rose. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, August 4th at 2:00 p.m. from Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Stevens and the Rev. Kristie Banes. Music will be provided by Christina Lewis. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Payne, Jimmy Wills, Ross Arnold, Roger Fenner, B. C. Stout, Kevin Hayworth, Offie Hayworth and Bill Gentry. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Amedisys Hospice. Graveside service and interment will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery.
