Tommy Keith Garland Tommy Keith Garland, age 80, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on December 26, 1929 to the late Dana Lilford and Nina Easter Davis Garland. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by an infant sister, Winnie Lee; two additional sisters: Frieda Noens and Cherene Nichols; brothers: D.L. Garland and Del Garland and a very special military friend, Dale L. Jackson. Tommy was a retired carpenter and building contractor, was the former Superintendent of the Town of Mountain City Public Works and former operator of Shell Service Station of Mountain City. He was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran. Tommy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane Garland; daughter: Beverly and husband Carter Baker of Bristol, VA and Mandy L. Garland and Dennis Greene of Butler, TN; sons: Michael K. Garland of CA, James L. Garland and wife Debbie of Abingdon, VA, David L. Garland and wife Karen of Johnson City, TN, Andy Garland and Saul B. Garland, both of Mountain City, TN; brothers: Dearl Garland of CA and Gary Garland and wife Donna of Greenville, TN; grandchildren: Courtney Garland, Preston Garland, Brantlee Garland, Bethany Garland, Zachary Greene, Karter Beth Baker, Gracie Baker and Melissa Brown and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Woods and Rev. Leonard Fletcher to officiate. Music will be provided by Lowell and Glenda Trivette. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2010 from the Sunset Memorial Park. Military Honors will be conducted on Sunday and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Active Pallbearers will be Sons and Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Gordon Mowrey, Kemp Henson, Bill Brookshire, Dean Stout, Bill Farmer, Bob Eller, Terry Reece, Mike Cornett, Doug Cornett, Jerry Horne, Jerry Lipford, Larry Barry and Ricky Wright. Family, Pallbearers and friends are asked to assemble by 1:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
