Walter W. Salmons

Walter W. Salmons, age 90, of Mountain City, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Hillview Nursing Home in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He was born on April 28, 1920 to the late Gilbert and Laura Carolyn Shaw Salmons. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by five sisters; four brothers and one great grandchild, Jason Dugger. Walter was a carpenter and painter by trade, enjoyed restoring old guns, reading, going to flea markets and trading in general. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Walter was a World War II Veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Walter is survived by his wife of 57 years, Reba Salmons; one son, Roy Buck Salmons and Brenda; one brother, Elmer Salmons and wife June of West Grove, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren: Angela Boucher of Mountain City, Tennessee, Joseph Salmons and wife Sharon of Butler, Tennessee, Christine Abernethy and husband David of Puerto Rico and Roy P. Bucky' Salmons and wife Debra of Mountain City, Tennessee; nine great grandchildren: Bradley and Blake Boucher of Wixom, Michigan; Tiffany and Gregory Sams of Hampton, Tennessee; Justin Dugger of Puerto Rico, Jennifer Reece and husband Derek of Mountain City, Tennessee, Destiny, Jordan and Charlie Anna Salmons, also all of Mountain City, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Music will be provided by Jerry Horne & the First Freewill Baptist Church Choir. Military Honors and Graveside service will be conducted on at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from the Sunset Memorial Park and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be great grandchildren: Bradley Boucher, Justin Dugger, Blake Boucher, Derek Reece, Greg Sams and friend Kenny Payne. Honorary Pallbearer are: Glen Parson, Joe Sherwood, Herbie Potter and Jackie Wilson. The family will also receive friends at the home 518 East Main St., Mountain City, Tn 37683.
