Norman Edward Stanbery, age 89, of 1238 West Main Street, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, North Carolina after a brief illness. Mr. Stanbery was a retired commercial construction Superintendent and farmer. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Margaret Phillips Stanbery; two brothers: William Jady and Elbert Stanbery; a sister, Mabel Ramsey and two beloved granddaughters: Jackie and Christa Stanbery. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Stanbery is survived by his four sons: Edward, Kyle and Bob Stanbery, all of Mountain City, Tennessee and Jerry Paul Stanbery of Butler, Tennessee; two sisters: Rozella Bradley of Monroe, North Carolina and Gladys Harmon of Boone, North Carolina; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his former wife of 63 years, Millicent Burton Stanbery and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Ray Greene and Rev. Derl McCloud to officiate. Mr. Stanbery's four sons will serve as pallbearers as well as Rick Stanbery, a grandson and Mike Taylor, a close friend. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Mr. Stanbery's grandchildren. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from the Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
