David Clarence Snyder

David Snyder David Clarence Snyder, age 91, of Shady Valley, Tennessee and a resident of Mountain City Care Center, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on January 26, 1919 to the late Fred and Margaret Phillips Snyder. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora Etta Snyder; and infant daughter; three sisters; three brothers and his second wife, Virginia Nelle Potter Snyder. David was retired from the Tennessee Highway Department and loved farming. He was a member of Shady Valley Baptist Church. David is survived by his four children: Carloyn McCraken and husband Henry of Bristol, TN, Daniel Jarrett Snyder of the home, Rachel Walker and husband Delos of Shady Valley, TN and Linda Potter and husband Thurl of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Michael Garland, William Bishop, Diane Grindstaff, David Bishop and Shelly Haynes stepchildren: Willa Adams of VA, Earlene Lay of Mountain City, TN; Bitha Lu Pardue of NC; David Kirby of Mountain City, TN and Kathy McFadden, also of Mountain City, TN; one brother, Ray Snyder of Mountain City, TN; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from the Shady Valley Baptist Church with Mr. Jim Hutchinson and Mr. Jerry Lyons to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Narrow Road (The Long Family). Pallbearers will be grandsons: Mike Garland, William Bishop, David Bishop; a stepson, David Kirby, friend Lonnie Long and friend/former co-worker, Kermit Morley. Honorary Pallbearers are Shady Valley Highway Department Employees, past and present. Graveside Service and Interment will follow on Sunday from the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens.
