Ruth L. Pierce Ruth L.Pierce, age 91, of Mountain City, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at her residence. She was born on September 22, 1919 to the late Willie Lewis and Rosa Stanley Lewis of Ashe County, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Pierce sisters, Reta Fenner and Marie McGlamery, brothers, J.W. Lewis and Ray Lewis, daughter-in-law, Betty Pierce, sons-in-law Brooks Lowe and Carl Dean Hayworth. She was a member of Dewey Christian Church. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Anna Lowe, Viva Sheffield, Martha Hayworth, Thelma Cook and husband Gene all of Mountain City, and Virgie Marley and husband Dee of Wilkesboro, North Carolina; sons, Lawrence Pierce and wife, Shirley of Butler, Delmer Pierce and wife Patsy, and Elmer Gene Pierce and wife Kathy of Mountain City; brother, Wade Lewis and wife Mary Nell of Mountain City; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 P.M. Monday, October 11, 2010 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with C.D. Bud Gentry, Minister, to officiate. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Graveside Service and Interment will follow funeral service on Monday, from Sunset Memorial Park. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence, 1351 Swift Hollow Rd., Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. The family wishes to acknowledge the caring support and attention that the members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad and the staff members and nurses with hospice and home health care.
