Chester A. Reece, age 81, of Trade, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side. Chester was born on May 31, 1929 In Watauga County North Carolina to the late Don and Pearl Brown Reece. In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by brothers: C.G. Reece and Jack Reece and mother-in-law, Iva Lee Potter. Chester was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, a lifetime member of the Johnson County Rescue Squad, a 50 year member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge and a 50 year member of the Maple Chapter of the Eastern Star. He was a UT football fan and had a love for farming. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the building committee and was the former Sunday school superintendent. Chester loved his family and will be truly missed. Chester is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernice Potter Reece of Trade, TN' two sons: Mike Reece and wife Lisa of Aledo, TX and Greg Reece and wife Lisa of Trade, TN; six grandchildren: Susan Reece of Jacksonville, FL, Grant and Alex Reece of Aledo, TX, Allyson, Abby, and Anna Reece of Trade, TN; two sisters: Helen Wilson of Stuarts Draft, VA and Joan Johnson and husband Jerry of Trade, TN; two sisters-in-law: Francis Reece of Evans, GA and Margie Reece of Ravenna, OH and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 11, 2010 from 6-8:00 p.m. from Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from Mountain City Funeral Home with Bro. Derick Wilson to officiate. Music will under the direction of Tony and Cheri Potter. Active Pallbearers are: Paul Anderson, Willie DeBord, Ed Hoak, Mark Wallace, Doug McFadden, and Odell Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are: members and former members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad, Hill Ward, James Lefler, Earl Bumgardner, Grayson Trivette, and George Main. Entombment will follow the service on Tuesday from the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love with Masonic Service.
