Eva Jo Parker Lewis Shirley Eva Jo Parker Lewis Shirley, age 70, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at her residence. She was born on July 20, 1940 in Ashe County, North Carolina, to the late Joseph Joe' Tillman Parker and Dora Lannie Delp Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Ward and one brother, William Bill' Parker. Eva Jo loved shopping and going to visit at the nursing home daily. Eva Jo attended First Freewill Baptist Church and more than anything, she loved going to church and being a faithful servant for the Lord. She also loved to play the piano at church. Eva Jo loved her family and will be truly missed. In addition to her husband of 38 yrs, Charles Chuck' Shirley , she is survived by two sons: Terry Lewis and wife Elaine of Elizabethton, TN and Teddy Lewis and wife Elaine, of Mountain City, TN; one sister, June Canter Ford of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Whitney Absher and husband Ryan of Princeton, AL, Heather Savery and husband Will, of Mountain City, TN, Megan McEwen and husband Daniel of Butler, TN and Parker Lewis of Elizabethton, TN; great grandchildren: Harlan Savery , Audrey Savery and Josiah McEwen; aunts and uncles Danford Darrect, Ella Mae Lewis and Nina Faye Huss, Hugh Parker, Edgar Parker and wife Wilma, and Russell Parker and wife Sophia; brother in law, Bob Ward; several nieces & nephews; close cousins: Bill Delp of Meadowview, VA and Mary Herron and husband Norman of Florida and many, many special friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010 from the First Freewill Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Billy Poe Jones and Pastor Wayne DePew officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jennifer Brown, Megan McEwen and Josh and Stephanie Jones. Pallbearers will be James Brown, Dean Mink, Worley Tester, Tim Dunn, Will Savery, Daniel McEwen, David Smiley and Danny Cornett. Honorary pallbearers are Lester Morely, John Brown, Ryan Absher, Parker Lewis and Clarence Braden. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Phillippi Cemetery. The family will also receive friends at the home 639 Liberty Church Rd., Mountain City.
