Robert Ford Hicks Robert Ford Hicks Sr., age 76, of Moretz Road, Mountain City, Tennessee and a native of Watauga County, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday morning, November 14, 2010 at the Watauga Medical Center. Born on January 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Leander and Ivalee Hicks. In addition to his parents, Ford was preceded in death by his son, Robert Ford Hicks Jr. and two brothers: Grover Garfield and Arthur Dean Hicks. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Ford was a member of the former Piney Grove United Methodist Church and attended Antioch Baptist Church of Mountain City, Tennessee. He was a retired carpenter. Ford is survived by his wife, Shelba Hess Hicks of the home; one sister, Nora Mae Hicks; one brother, Joe Hicks, both of Banner Elk, North Carolina and two of his best friends: Willis Hess and Millie Dugger. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. from the Austin and Barnes Funeral Home Chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Clyde Campbell and Rev. Kenny Ray Vaught. The family will receive friends on Tuesday 6-7:30 p.m. prior to the service. Military Rites and graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from the Piney Grove Cemetery on Rominger Road, Sugar Grove, North Carolina.
