Ella Nelson Rose Ella Nelson Rose, age 86, of Bristol, VA, formerly of Mountain City, TN, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the home of her son, Tommy, in Mountain City, TN. She was born on March 4, 1924 to the late Jake and Lilly Rosetta (Denny) Stanley of Damascus, VA. In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by two sons: Glenn Nelson and John Fly' King Nelson III; father of her children, John June' King Nelson Jr.; her husband, Andrew Rose; one sister, Velma Keith and two brothers: Coy Stanley and Tommy Jack Stanley. Ella had lived many years in Mountain City, TN and moved to Bristol, VA in 1972. One of the highlights of her life was working as a Foster Grandmother at the Abuse Alternative Crisis Center in Bristol. She was a member of Bradley Street Baptist Church. Ella is survived by her daughter, Lois Williams and husband Mike of Okalahoma City, OK; her son, Tommy Nelson and wife Janie of Mountain City, TN; granddaughter, Michelle Phillips and husband David; two grandsons: Tim Nelson and wife Donna and John Nelson IV and wife Wendy; the joys of her life, her four great grandchildren: Hope Nelson, Stone Phillips, Frankie Nelson and Cash Nelson; very special niece, Debbie Keith; very special lifelong friend, Cricket Hall; daughter-in-law, Shirley Nelson; brothers and sisters: Della Woodard, Mary Hayes, Mimble Osborne and husband Bob, Jettie Blevins, Paul Stanley and wife Loma, Roy Stanley and wife Elizabeth and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Weaver Funeral Home, 630 Locust Street, Bristol, Tennessee. The family will also receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Hankal to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery, Mountain City, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Abuse Alternative Crisis Center, 104 Memorial Drive, Bristol, TN 37620. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Ella's son, Tommy Nelson, 2611 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
