Geraldine Brown, age 88, of Mountain City, Tennessee and formerly of North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 following a brief illness. She was born on January 8, 1923 to the late James Boston Bateman and Emma Bennett Bateman. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Brown. Geraldine was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Burlington, North Carolina. She is survived by her daughters: Joan Croteau, and Lillie Schoolfield and husband Don; stepdaughter, Judy Holleman and husband Vernon; stepson, H. Lee Brown and wife Pam; granddaughter, Stacey Schoolfield; great grandson, Tralen Schoolfield and five step grandchildren. The funeral service for Geraldine Brown will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Burlington, North Carolina with Rev. Delton Agnor to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Lowe's Funeral Home of Burlington, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 480 W. Old Glencoe Road, Burlington, NC 27217 or Amedisys Hospice of Elizabethton, 167 Hudson Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
