Rev. Haskel Ingram Jr. Rev. Haskel Ingram Jr, age 85, of Hampton, TN, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the Hillview Health Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Haskel Ingram Sr. and Virgie Morton Ingram. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Laws. Rev. Ingram was a graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Rev. Ingram was ordained to the Ministry by the Union Baptist Church in 1958 and had served the following churches: Elk Park Baptist Church in Elk Park, NC, Union Baptist Church of Hampton, TN, Watauga First Baptist Church of Watauga, TN, Harmony Baptist Church of Elizabethton, TN, Pine Grove Baptist Church of Mountain City, TN and Roan Park Baptist Church of Roan Mountain, TN. In later years he served as an Interim Pastor at several other churches and had taught Bible Study courses at several churches. Rev. Ingram was active in the Watauga Baptist Association serving in various capacities. He was a member of t he Hampton First Baptist Church. His hobbies were woodworking and crafts. Survivors include his wife of sixty seven years, Ruth Ingram; two daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy and Gerry Miller and Rebecca and Luther Bowers, all of Elizabethton, TN; his grandchildren: April Miller of Toledo, OH and Dr. Mark Bowers and wife Amanda of Piney Flats, TN; two great grandchildren: Jacob and Sara Bowers and several nieces and nephews. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Rev. Haskel Ingram will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Hyder and Rev. Cecil Nick' Bradshaw to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday with friends and family, will be: Jim Williams, Todd Montgomery, David Forbes, David Laws, Andy Glover and Ian Glover. Honorary Pallbearers will be his many friends, church families, friends of Hillview Health Center and Ministers of the Watauga Baptist Association. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and Tennessee National Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hampton First Baptist Church Building Fund, 407 First Avenue, Hampton, TN 37658. At other times, the family will receive friends at the homes of his children. Condolences may be emailed to the family at mfc@chartertn.net.
