Earl C. Phillips Earl C. Phillips, age 88, of Little Dry Run Rd., Butler, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2011 in Johnson City. He was born on June 4, 1922 in Mountain City, Tennessee, to the late Andrew and Myrtle Reese Phillips. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Maxwell; two sisters; two brothers and two grandchildren: Randy Kevin Brown and Adam Mark Brown. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II in Germany, where he was wounded during combat. Earl was a member of Dyson Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Winnie Phillips; daughters: Annis Louise Smith and husband Bonell, Emma Jean Hampton and Janice Rose Brown, all of Butler, TN; a son, James Earl Jim' Phillips of Butler, TN; four sisters; grandchildren: Johnny Darrell Whaley and wife Jessica of Hampton, TN, Elizabeth Garland and husband Eric of Albuquerque, NM, Emberly Dawn Dominguez and husband Frank of Macon, GA, Carl Hatley and wife Rachel of Mountain City, TN, Angela Marlow of Hampton, TN, Cindy Kearn and husband David of Kingsport, TN and Mindy Phillips of Mountain City, TN; twelve great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Fletcher to officiate. Special music will be provided by the Fletcher Family. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from the Fletcher Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Active Pallbearers are: Johnny Whaley, Carl Hatley, Bonell Smith, Frank Dominguez, Dave Kearn and Rick Laws. Honorary Pallbearers are: Jack Bradley, Junior Potter, Carol Stout, Daniel Laws, Wayne Laws and Steve Laws. Memorials may be made to the Dyson Grove Baptist Church, 8483 Roan Creek Road, Butler, TN 37640. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home 3361 Little Dry Run Rd., Butler, TN 37640.
