Maude A. 'Nanny' Gregg

UPDATED OBITUARY-PLACE OF SERVICE HAS CHANGED DUE TO WEATHER DAMAGE Maude A. Nanny' Gregg, age 93, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Watauga Medical Center of Boone, North Carolina. She was born on June 9, 1917 to the late Ed and Virgie Shupe Phillippi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Gregg, who passed away August 19, 2006; step mother, Geneva Neve' Phillippi and several brothers and sisters. Maude was employed for 54 years as a sales clerk at Michaels Department Store. She loved being outdoors and working in her flowers and garden. Maude also enjoyed working with crafts, traveling and had a great love for reading. Maude was a charter member of Liberty Christian Church and had served as church treasurer for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Kilgore of Mountain City, TN; granddaughter, Kelly Kilgore; grandson, Charlie Kilgore, both of Mountain City, TN; great grandson, Cordel Kilgore of Hickory, NC; sister, Mary Bouten of Bristol, TN; several nieces and nephews, many special friends that she made through the years working at Michaels and her special caregivers. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Ministers Jim Hutchinson and Chris Morefield to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Clifford and Elaine Moody. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: John Triplett, Bruce Triplett, Roger Fenner, Tommy Cress, Jack Eller and Bill Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Eller, Sonny Stout, Steve Triplett and Deacons and Elders of Liberty Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Maude's memory to the Johnson County Public Library, 219 North Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683 or Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Maude's daughter or granddaughter, 353 Berry Branch Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
