Dora Elizabeth Hawks

Dora Elizabeth (Betty) Hawks, age 82, of Shady Valley, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at her residence. She was born July 24, 1928 in West Virginia to the late Famous Jack and Bessie Hendricks Sexton. Dora enjoyed visiting with friends, going to church and the outdoors. She liked sitting in her rocker on her porch, going to Wal-Mart and in their day, she and her husband Marvin would go to the store for ice cream and pass the time away. She was a member of Shady Valley Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Hawks; daughter, Barbara Naomi Hawks; two sons, Marvin Thomas Hawks, Jr. and Kenneth Eugene Hawks; and a brother, Joseph Sexton. Dora is survived by her daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Hawks and fiancé Dennis Wayne Rhudy of Shady Valley, TN; son, James Danny Hawks of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Von Harry Hawks and Amanda Mains, Robert Joseph Henry, Kimo Keneke Henry and Logan Jenkins, and Christy Dora Marco, Levi Hawks and Shane Hawks; great grandchildren, Sebastian Hawks, and Mackenzie Hawks Mains; special niece, Bubbles and several other nieces and nephews and special friends Betty Rhudy, Iva Lee Wright Janet Wright, members of Shady Valley Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church and a special companion, Stich. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Shady Valley Baptist Church with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Porter and Rev. Harry Cunningham officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens (Gentry Cemetery). Pallbearers will be Dennis Rhudy, Patrick Wallace, Kimo Henry, James Hawks, Von Hawks, Robert Henry and Wilbur Burkey. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Wallace, Larry Wallace, Daniel Morley, Brad Burkey, Shane Hawks and Jess Hawks. At other times, the family will receive friends at 703 Gentry Road, Shady Valley.
