Della Marie Maxwell

Della Marie Maxwell, age 96, of Mountain City, went home to be with her Savior on May 22, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Della was born on August 2, 1914 to Winton Patrick and Amanda Bauguess Patrick of Creston, NC. She married Truman Maxwell in 1939 and moved to Mountain City where she lived for the rest of her life as a loving wife and mother. Della was of the Baptist faith, having received the Lord as her Savior at an early age. She enjoyed traveling to other church's singing. She loved her family, cooking, sewing, embroidery, reading, watching TV and in early years raising her garden and preserving the fruits and vegetables. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Truman who passed in 1957; her sisters, Emma Roten, Bessie Greer, Lessie Perry, Mertie Roten, Bertie Perry, Otie Carpenter, and Mae Lackey; her brother, Elmer Patrick. She is survived by her daughter, Eva Marie Maxwell; two sons, Glenn Maxwell and Truman "Mack" Maxwell and wife Betty, all of Mountain City, constant companion Moses her cat, one sister, Opal Davis of Kimblesville, PA and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Della Marie Maxwell will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harry Hillman, Rev. Patti Clark and Rev. Jim Norman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. Peter Haibach, Dr. John Whitlock and Bill Griffin. Her shining blue eyes and sweet smile will be missed by all. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her son, Truman "Mack" Maxwell, 3211 Highway 421 N, Mountain City.
