IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN THE MOUNTAINS, THEN YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH-One of Joe's favorite sayings... Joseph C. Gildea, age 65, of Mountain City, TN, passed away on Monday July 18, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on October 10, 1945 to Joseph C. Gildea and Helen Stadtmiller Gildea. Joe loved dogs and was a regular volunteer at the Johnson County Humane Society. He was also very active in his community and was a volunteer at Johnson County Safe Haven, where he also served on the board. He was a member of the Johnson County Amateur Radio Club, call # AJ4W0. Joe was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he also served as a choir member and assisted with the Methodist Medical Mission. He is survived by his wife, Heather Gildea; daughter, Laurie Jean Wurm and partner Rosemary McLaughlin of Boonton, NJ; son, Jesse MacGregor and wife Laura Yeackel of Westmont, NJ; brother, William Gildea and wife Karen of W. Norton, PA; brother-in-law, Thomas MacGregor; grandchildren: John Mattison McLaughlin and Lucy Kathleen McLaughlin and two nephews: Joshua Gildea and David Gildea. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Rye and Pastor Buford Hankins to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family will also receive friends at the home located at 381 Deer Creek Crossing, Mountain City, TN on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 12-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Johnson County Humane Society, 919 Pine Orchard Road, Butler, TN 37640, Johnson County Safe Haven, 311 South Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683 or the Methodist Medical Mission, 128 North Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
