Dolphus D. Reece

Dolphus D. Reece, age 89, of Florida and formerly of Mountain City, TN, passed away on Saturday November 5, 2011 at the Emerald Coast Health Center of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was born on March 15, 1922 to the late Arthur and Jane Main Reece. In addition to his parents, Dolphus was preceded in death by siblings: Luther Reece, Floy Reece, Lorettie Martin, Thelma Wallace, Ollie Robinson, Ethel Reece, Ella May Combs and Coy Reece. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Dolphus was a farmer all of his life, a top Chevrolet mechanic for 36 years and a Massey-Ferguson tractor mechanic. He was a member of Center View Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Della Phillippi Reece; daughter, Marjorie Outlaw and husband Bruce of Fort Walton Beach, FL; son, Luther Bud' Reece and wife Marian of Sharps Chapel, TN; grandchildren: Lisa Andrews of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Amy Bright and husband Randy of Dover, DE and Jon Reece of Cocoa Beach, FL; great grandchildren: Ryan and Hunter Andrews and Hayden, Garrett and Lauren Bright and many nieces and nephews. Special friends include, Rhonda Reece, Earl Greer, Harvey Burniston , Joe Widner, Maurice Widner, Lynn Courtner and Steve Reece. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Minister Buddy Morefield, of Appalachian Church of Christ, to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will follow at Phillippi Cemetery and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Harvey Reece, E.J. Reece, Joe Reece, Barry Reece, Quint Reece and Bill Reece. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Williams, Offie Hayworth and Nelson Gray.
