Bill Shore, age 83, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on November 11, 1927 to the late William Walter and Mamie Andrews Shore. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. He had retired from ET & WNC Freightlines and had also served two terms as Mountain City Alderman. Following his retirement, he was a volunteer shuttle bus driver at the VA of Mountain Home, TN. Bill was a former scout leader and a member of the Order of the Arrow and had served on the Board of the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed collecting antiques. Bill was a United States Army Veteran and an honorary member of the POW. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Shore; daughters: Becky Bowman and husband Charlie of Gray, TN and Lisa Crawford of Nashville, TN; son, Bill Shore Jr. and wife Carole Stout Shore of McDonough, GA; sisters: Helen delaRigaudiere of Mountain City, TN and Betty Dugger of Dayton, OH; grandchildren: Michele Lane of Port Slade, UK; Brian Shore of Atlanta, GA, Sarah Crawford, Chelsea Crawford, both of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren: Ella, Carys and Brodie Lane, Port Slade, UK and Tristan Potter of Nashville and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Pastor Harry Wills to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are Farris Thomas, Terry Jordan, Jerry Jordan, Ray Payne, Jim Vincill, John Muse, James Lefler and Frank Arnold. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
