Thelma Elizabeth Roberts

Thelma Elizabeth Roberts, age 74, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday January 1, 2012 following a prolonged illness. She was born on March 6, 1937 to the late Walter James Gentry and Lura V. Widener Gentry. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her first husband, Estel Bert Widener, her second husband, Edgar H. Eddie' Roberts, son-in-law, Doug Icenhour, brother-in-law, Albert Wood and a grandson, Michael Dean Eskridge. Thelma loved to work in her beautiful flower garden and make floral arrangements. She also enjoyed making various crafts. She was a member of Church of God of Damascus, VA. Thelma is survived by daughters and son-in-law: Brenda Carol Stout and Troy and Debra Icenhour, all of Mountain City, TN; son, Ronald Widener and Dixie of Laurel Bloomery, TN; sister, Lois Wood; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill and Susan Gentry, Dean and Helen Gentry, all of Laurel Bloomery, TN; brother-in-law, Fred Roberts and wife Flo of Abingdon, VA; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nephew, Tony Roberts and several more nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastors R.D. Waston, Billy Morefield, Garnet Rodgers and Mike Bowers to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from the Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are staff of Amedisys Home Health.
