Lee Forest Sluder, age 97, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Lee was born on February 27, 1914 in Shouns, TN to the late Roy E. and Nancy Mae Sluder. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Sluder; a son, Steve Sluder; sisters: Viola Bordeau, Murrel Cox and Leona Bartlit; and brothers: Bobby Sluder and Dale Sluder He was a United States Veteran having served in the Army during World War II, where he earned and received the Victory Medal. Lee was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of thirteen years, Edith Clark Sluder; step-daughter, Connie Courtner of Mountain City, TN; sister, Bernice Barrlow of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Military Honors and Entombment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
